Mike Weise, new General Manager of Jersey Australia

Jersey Australia’s board of management is delighted to announce that Mike Weise has accepted the role of General Manager.

Mike comes to Jersey Australia with 28 years of experience in the dairy industry in Australia, the UK and Ireland.

He started his career milking Jerseys, Shorthorns and Holstein Friesians and served as Executive Officer of WestVic Dairy, the Regional Development program funded by the farmers’ levy.

For the past three years he has been consulting to not-for-profit and agricultural organisations and serves as a director on three boards.

Now, Mike has decided to return full-time to his passion for dairy.

President of Jersey Australia Peter Ness said that Jersey Australia was fortunate to find an experienced dairy operator with sound financial knowledge, a successful track record of growing a member business (WestVic Dairy) and providing value to members. Mike has exceptional communication skills, strong leadership and organisational skills and a well-established network within Australia’s dairy industry

Mike says he is pleased to be back in the dairy family and looks forward to meeting with Jersey Australia’s existing members as well as looking for opportunities to grow the business.

He started as general manager of Jersey Australia  last month and met  Jersey Australia members at the Sydney Easter Show and will be meeting members at the Central Gippsland Autumn Fair (April 12) and the Jersey Australia AGM (May 18-20).

Mike managed an agricultural college herd in the UK which led into a teaching role at the college and, after five years, he won a 12-month exchange with an Australian agricultural lecturer.

His work history includes delivering services to the National Farmers’ Union in the UK and managing a team of Target 10 dairy extension officers.

The Jersey Australia board and its members would like to take this opportunity to welcome Mike to his position and we look forward to a long and prosperous relationship.
