Jersey Australia – Our Story
The Jersey breed has been part of Australian dairying for well over a century, with the first Jersey society formed in 1898. What began as passionate breeders working to showcase the qualities of their cattle has grown into a strong, united voice for the breed. In 2008, state  associations came together to form Jersey Australia, creating a single national body dedicated to advancing the Jersey cow.

Today, Jersey Australia proudly represents breeders across the country, promoting the Jersey as the efficient, profitable, and sustainable dairy cow of choice. Through pedigree services, genetic improvement, marketing, and industry leadership, we continue to champion the breed’s strengths and ensure Jerseys remain at the forefront of Australia’s dairy industry.

Our mission statement

The purposes for which the incorporated association is established are:-
• To develop the genetic pool of Jersey cattle within Australia.
• To expand the influence of the breed in Australia and in any overseas territory not serviced by a Jersey Society.
• To collect, verify, and publish information relating to the commercial benefits of Jersey cattle.
• To maintain a register of Jersey cattle to be held at the Jersey Australia office.
• To promote in any way not mentioned above the interests of breeders of Jersey cattle and members of Jersey Australia
